GET YOUR WREATH TODAY!

Do you know about the wreaths that are placed on veterans' graves during the holiday season in Arlington, and other state and national cemeteries?  Those lovely green balsam wreaths with red bows stand out against a bland wintry day's landscape.  Have you wished that YOUR loved veteran could be honored, just like those buried at Arlington?  NOW THEY CAN BE!!!!

The Novelty Senior Citizens group is sponsoring a Wreaths Across America ceremony December 16, 2017 (the same time as the national ceremony in Arlington), local time 11:00 a.m.  You may purchase a wreath for any loved veteran in the county, or nearby cemeteries.

All wreaths will be delivered to Novelty.  We ask that, if your loved one is elsewhere, then you come to Novelty on the day of the ceremony, and pick up the wreath(s) you have purchased and take it to your loved one's gravesite.

The wreaths cost just $15 per wreath, and are identical to those placed in Arlington.  You may send the money to
 Novelty Senior Citizens
 PO Box 65
Novelty, MO 63460

Checks should be made payable to Wreaths Across America.
(Deadline to receive money is October 31, 2017.)

And the Senior Citizens' thank you for your help in this project!

August Monthly luncheon

August 3, 2017 found the Novelty Senior Citizens at the center for their monthly luncheon.  Those present were Diana Cheatum, Freda Bradley, Carolyn Morgret, Helen Pulse, Sue Ahern, Kathryn Wilkerson, Denis and Dorothy Howard, Mildred Bragg, Karen Lumley, Allie Hemme, and Judith Rhoades.  Kathryn and Freda celebrated their birthdays.

After clean-up, Kathryn called the business meeting to order.  Judith gave the treasurer's report for the month.  Minutes (from the paper) were also read and approved as corrected--add Diana's name as she worked the booth on July 4th at Hurdland, although her name was absent from the paper's account, with Kathryn's being in twice.

Carolyn had picked up the boot from Casey's and will place it in another location.  Some money had been received for Wreaths.  It is also planned for some to be on KMEM's coffee break on October 9, to talk about the Wreaths Across America project.

Diana will make the cake for the September birthdays for the luncheon.  Coffee makers were chosen for each week.

Notes on the meeting were kept by Judith due to Marsha's absence.
