 MAY 2021 MONTHLY LUNCHEON

Thursday, May 6 found six senior citizens attending the monthly luncheon at the Novelty Senior Center.  They were Denis, Dorothy, Kathryn, Diana, Judith, and Marsha.  Diana led the pledge to the American flag, followed by a prayer by Denis.  Judith had made the birthday cake--an angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream.  "Happy Birthday" was sung to Marsha and Denis.

After the meal and cleanup (by Diana) was completed, Diana opened the business meeting.  Marsha read the minutes to last month's meeting and asked them to be approved as presented.  Judith seconded, with all voting to approve.  Judith gave the treasurer's report, seconded by Kathryn, and that too was approved unanimously.

In last month's minutes and post on this blog, she'd asked if anyone read the blog:  She'd received a note from Lynn, stating she did indeed read it, and enjoyed all the Novelty news:  to keep doing it!  So thanks for your input, Lynn, and guess we'll go on.    In a semi-related note, Kathryn commented that Lynn has attended some of the Knox County Historical meetings, and had donated a copy of a newspaper that was printed in Novelty--she thought perhaps in the 1920's.

In WAA news, the military boots for donations will be put out soon, definitely prior to Memorial Day.  Marsha asked for some suggested businesses to place them.  Marsha made a motion that, IF they have the Cornfest this fall, that the Novelty Senior Citizens' have a vendor's booth set up, to get donations for the wreaths.  Judith 2nd and motion passed.  It was also decided to send letters to various businesses in Knox County (this has been done in the past and has helped to purchase enough wreaths to cover more than one cemetery.)  Those will be sent out in late July/August.

Coffee makers for the month will be Diana, Marsha, Kathryn, and Judith.  Diana will make the cake for the June meeting...one or two birthdays that month! That celebration will be held Thursday, June 3rd.

Meeting adjourned and all made their way home safely.
