 WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

The deadline for the 2023 Buy One, Get Another promotion from the national Wreaths Across America  company is now over.  (Well has to be postmarked by tomorrow, and I can't guarantee it would if I get it now!)

I have sent in the money to purchase 152 wreaths--so just a month after the 2022 ceremony, we already have  304 wreaths for the 2023 ceremony, which is December 16, 2023!!!!

Thanks to all who purchased wreaths early to take advantage of this offer!  I know that St. Aloysius and Bee Ridge cemeteries will be completely covered again as they already are.  Novelty cemetery is nearly there.

THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!

Novelty Senior Citizens’ met Thursday, January 5, 2023 for the monthly luncheon.  Although the center was still decorated for Christmas, we did have a good meal and visiting time.  Jim & Marsha, Judith, Edra, Diana, and Carolyn were present.  Carolyn gave the blessing for the food and all repeated the Pledge of Allegiance.  Jim and Edra celebrate birthdays this month, so we sang “Happy Birthday” to them as they blew out the candles on the angel food cake, baked by Marsha.  Coconut pie was also a dessert item.  Something a bit different for entrĂ©e—clam chowder brought by Edra.

The business meeting was brought to order by President Diana at 1:08 p.m.  Marsha read the minutes to the December meeting; they were seconded by Carolyn and approved as presented.  She then read the summary of the December 17th Wreaths ceremony that is listed on our blogsite.  Judith handed out the financial statement for the month and explained it.  Carolyn seconded her motion to approve which was unanimously approved.

Business:

1.     Judith has purchased 200 surveyors’ flags to put at the cemeteries next fall prior to the ceremony.

2.    Last month we had decided to not put up the sign at the cemetery as it is torn and worn from 6 years of service. After discussion,  Carolyn moved that we not replace the sign  as it is only up for a week, at the Novelty cemetery and therefore is not seen by a great number of people.  Motion passed.  Marsha will look into the price, just in case we decide to change that vote.   We have had a few people who have said they would donate to get the sign.

3.    The Green Acres Extension Club had invited the coffee ladies to join them on December 13th for the annual Christmas treats day at the center.  Not many were here (4 Extension club members and 3 coffee ladies) but we all enjoyed the good Christmas treats all had brought to share.

Next monthly luncheon is February 2nd.  No cake will be needed as we have no birthdays that month.  Coffee makers for this month are:  Jan 10—Judith, 17—Marsha, 24—Diana, 31—Judith.

Meeting was adjourned
