                            JUNE 2024 LUNCHEON & MEETING

June 6, 2024 saw four ladies present for the monthly luncheon at the Novelty Senior Center—Diana, Judith, Marsha, and Rhonda (KCHD nurse).  After Rhonda had taken blood pressures, we all four enjoyed a nice carry-in meal.     Diana had led the pledge, then gave the invocation, followed by our rendition of “Happy Birthday” to Judith who will celebrate at the end of the month.  Candles were on the cake brought by Rhonda (although Diana had made muffins to celebrate.)

After cleanup by Diana, she called the business meeting to order at 1:04 p.m.            Marsha read the minutes from last month’s meeting—seconded by Judith, Approved.   Judith gave the treasurer’s report, seconded by Marsha.  Approved.

1.        Business discussed was the WAA project.  Marsha has written a tentative letter to the editor of our stopping this project.  Both Diana and Judith read it, and ok’ed it—but Marsha will not send it in until probably September, after the Cornfest.  Discussion also about sending out business letters in August. We will revise our list as many who have been receiving them do not respond, and perhaps add a few.

2.        We will again have a stand at the CornFest.  Judith will send it in whenever she receives the information.

3.        There will be no luncheon next month as that would be July 4th.  So the next one will be August 1.  No birthdays in August, so no one assigned to make cake.                                                                                                                                Coffee makers for the next two months are  June 11th—Judith; 18th—Diana; 25th—Kathryn; July 2nd—Marsha; 9th—Judith; 16-th—Diana; 23rd—Kathryn; 30th—Marsha.

Meeting adjourned at 2:40

                                     MAY 2024 LUNCHEON

A few of the Novelty Senior Citizens’ met Thursday, May 2, 2024 for the monthly luncheon.  Judith, Diana, and Marsha, along with Rhonda, the KCHD nurse were the only ones there.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and Diana gave the prayer.  Happy Birthday was sung to Marsha who will celebrate her birthday in a few days.  Since there were few here, the food was a bit scarce—only one meat, one vegetable salad, and three desserts; one being a very tasty strawberry “poke” cake made by Judith for the birthday celebrant.

At 1:20, Diana called the business meeting to order after cleanup.  Marsha read the minutes to the last meeting, which were seconded by Judith and approved.  Judith gave the treasurer’s report, seconded by Marsha, and approved. The Health Dept  had put painted rocks in various communities:  we had found one at our door, so we received $5.00 for taking it in!

Unfinished business and other items:

1.     WAA—do we want to continue this project.  Marsha said we need to decide prior to the ceremony in December—if we don’t do it, then we’ll need to tell the people then.  We are all getting older!  We’ve had several say they’d be “glad to help”, but we need some in the lead roles—planning the ceremony, and the year-long job of selling wreaths, keeping track of them, etc.   Nothing was decided for sure, we’ll discuss it again at a later meeting.  Marsha will try to write a “letter to the editor” in the summer/early fall about our decision and perhaps seeing if any other organization wants to take on the project.

Kathryn came in during this discussion for awhile, and Barbara also came to the door, but did not stay.  Kathryn left before the meeting was adjourned.

Diana will make the cake for June 6’s carry-in.  Coffee makers for the month are Diana, Judith, Kathryn, Marsha, Marsha.

APRIL, 2024 MONTHLY LUNCHEON & BUSINESS

April 4, 2024 was the monthly carry-in dinner.  Those attending were Dorothy, David, Diana, and Judith.  The healthy nurse, Rhonda was sick so unable to be there.

The business meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m.  Diana read the minutes, as Marsha was absent.  They were seconded by Dorothy and approved.   Judith gave the treasurer’s report, which was seconded by David.  Approved.

Diana, Dorothy, an d Judith said they saw the WAA Thank-you in the Edina Sentinel that week:  it was paid for prior to the December 17th ceremony and supposed to be in the week after that.

There was no unfinished business, nor new business to bring up.

Meeting adjourned at 1:35 p.m.

Diana will make the cake for May;  coffee makers were assigned as follows:  April 9—Marsha; 16—Diana; 23—Judith;  30—Marsha.

Minutes taken by Judith, typed and submitted by Marsha.
