JULY 2017 LUNCHEON

filling our plates to eat!  (Kathryn, Sue, Jeff, Leah, Helen)

Ready to eat!  Kathryn Helen, Freda, Karen

July 6th found the Novelty Senior Citizens meeting for their monthly luncheon at the Center.  The center was decorated with red/white/blue for Independence Day and Wreaths Across America.  Kathryn  led the pledges to the flag and Jeff gave the blessing for the food.  No birthdays were celebrated.  The carry-in luncheon was enjoyed by Jeff & Leah Otto, Mildred Bragg, Karen Lumley, Sue Ahern, Helen Pulse, Diana Cheatum, Kathryn Wilkerson, Judith Rhoades, Marsha Pinson, and Freda Bradley.  Sherry Goodwin, KCHD nurse, was also present to take blood pressures and check on various health issues of those present.

At 1:30, Kathryn called the business meeting to order.  Minutes of last month's meeting were read and approved.  Judith gave the treasurer'''s report:  it was good to see the electric bill was down but since today we had to have the AC on, next month's might be higher (it IS an old air conditioner).  Helen moved to approve the treasurer''s report, Diana seconded.

Old business:
1.  27 wreaths have been sent in to Wreaths Across America at this point.  Marsha has money for several more ready to send
2.  Thank you notes will be sent to Kent and April Franke for getting the float ready for the parade Tuesday, as well as Kent being Snoopy and April driving the truck.  Thank you notes will also be sent to April's nieces who walked alongside the truck and helped to guide Snoopy (it is hard to see in that costume).  Seniors who rode the float or walked/gave out candy were Diana, Barbara, Kathryn.  Those who worked the booth in 2 hour shifts were Jim & Marsha, Judith, Kathryn, Lynn VanDolah, Barbara, Diana, Kathryn and Carolyn.  The booth was closed at 3:00 as not many had stopped by.

New business:
1.  Haven't as yet sent in paperwork for having a booth at the Cornfest:  (Marsha or Judith has lost the paper that is to be sent in.  :(  Judith will call about it.)
2.  Kathryn will check with Franke's on getting the banners and other decorations from the float back to store until September.

Next month's luncheon will be August 3rd.  Judith will bake the birthday cake and we will have several birthdays that month!  Coffee makers for the month were assigned.

HURDLAND FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION

              FOR WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

We had a float in the Hurdland Fourth of July celebration--and a booth.  Thanks to Kent and April Franke for getting the float together and being in the parade.  Other "candy throwers" were Diana Cheatum, Kathryn Wilkerson, and Barbara Poor.
An information booth for Wreaths Across America was in the park and had several people stop by to  ask about it--especially the "Veterans' Remembrance Tree".  If YOU are interested, comment and let me know! (and sorry, didn't get a picture of the booth.)
Thanks to Marsha (and Jim) Pinson, Judith Rhoades, Kathryn, Lynn Van Dolah, Diana, and Carolyn Morgret for working the booth.
