                 AUGUST LUNCHEON, 2023

August 3, 2023 found the Novelty Senior Citizens meeting at the Center for the monthly luncheon.  Kathryn, Judith, Diana, and Marsha were in attendance as was Rhonda, the KCHD nurse who took blood pressures and oxygen readings.     We got to a bit of a late start—reciting the Pledge of Allegiance then Kathryn gave the blessing.  Happy Birthday was sung to Kathryn as her birthday is the end of the month, and she blew out a candle on the birthday coconut pie brought by Diana.  Other desserts were a lemon lush dessert and a german chocolate “dump” type cake—MMMM!

At 1:30 p.m. Diana called the business meeting to order.  Minutes from last month were read by Marsha, 2nd by Judith.  Judith then gave the treasurer’s report which was 2nd by Kathryn.  Both of these motions were approved.

Business:

1.     Cornfest is Sept 9th.   Cornfest “vendors” fee was sent in, and a request to be in the same spot as always:  that is generally approved.    Judith and Marsha will work most of the day, with others coming in as their schedules allow.

2.    The letter to businesses and friends that purchased last year are ready to go out…Judith will get this done soon.  Marsha made copies of the letter and also address labels for those.  (In the past few years Judith had been copying the letter, but her copy machine is not working.)

3.    We will place an ad in the paper to alert some that the price has increased to $17 per wreath and also as a reminder  to get the wreath ordered.

Coffee makers for this next month are:  August 8—Diana; 15—Judith;                22—Marsha; 29—Kathryn; Sep 5—Diana.  Next luncheon is Sept 7th with no birthdays on the calendar so no one was selected to bring the cake.

As we departed, several went home via different routes than usual as Highway 156 was being worked on, getting a new surface.

                                             JULY LUNCHEON

The monthly carry-in dinner was July 6.  Those attending were Dorothy, Diana, Judith, and Rhonda Penfield (KCHD nurse).  They enjoyed ribs, chicken casserole, green beans, deviled eggs, tomatoes, muskmelon, cucumbers,  and homemade ice cream made by Judith.

They said the pledge and Dorothy said the blessing.    No birthdays.

After cleanup, Diana called the meeting to order at 1:05.  Diana read the minutes from the blog as Marsha was absent.  Dorothy made motion to accept and Judith 2nd.    Judith made motion to accept the treasurer’s report, Dorothy 2nd.  Both motions were approved.

We have received notification of the CornFest:  will send in paper work shortly.  No old business or new business.

Coffeemakers:  Judith on 11th; Diana on 18th, Marsha on the 25th, and Kathryn on August 1st.  Diana will make the birthday cake for August.

Meeting was adjourned at 1:26 p.m.
