SEPTEMBER 2018 LUNCH & BUSINESS MEETING

September 6, 2018 found the Novelty Senior Citizens' meeting for their monthly luncheon and business meeting. Prior to the noon hour, nurse Sherry Goodwin took blood pressures, and inquired of people's health issues. She mentioned about the flu shots: not yet available at the Health Department, but should be before next month's meeting. They may try to have it available in the different communities and might have it here next month. Diana led the pledge to the flag, and Kathryn gave the prayer. Happy Birthday was sung to Helen Pulse whose birthday was today.

The birthday cake was made by Diana this month—a delicious mouth-watering banana cake. It was the only dessert brought—no other cakes or pies, which in itself was amazing! Those enjoying the food and fellowship were Joyce Simpson, Judith Rhoades, Denis Howard, Dorothy Howard, Kathryn Wilkerson, Marsha Pinson, Diana Cheatum, Sue Ahern, and Helen Pulse.

After cleanup, Diana called the business meeting to order. Marsha read the minutes to last month's meeting. Helen moved to approve them, Dorothy seconded. Approved as read. Judith presented the treasurer's report, which is attached. Denis made motion, seconded by Kathryn to approve this report: it was approved unanimously.

Business:
Marsha gave updated report on WAA. As of now, we have 63 wreaths purchased.  Marsha had put on her facebook page that we were running behind and please stop by  our booth at Cornfest.

Workers at the Cornfest booth for Saturday are 8:00-10:00 a.m.00—Judith and Lynn Browing VanDolah; 10:00-12:00---Lois Browning and Walla DeRosear; noon-2:00 p.m.--Marsha Pinson and Joyce Simpson; 2:00-4:00—Diana Cheatum and Jeannette Foreman; 4:00-6:00 p.m.--Kathryn Wilkerson. Judith has everything loaded in her vehicle to take up Saturday morning. Larry & Cleva Clark are letting us use their canopy for the event, and will have it up (with help from Jim Pinson) on Friday evening.

Discussion of putting out surveyor flags in Novelty. Judith made a motion, seconded by Joyce that yes, we put marker flags at Novelty. Motion Passed. Judith will decide when that will be done. If Bee Ridge cemetery has all veterans covered, they may use our extra flags to mark the graves ahead of time. (They did this last year as well.)

Dorothy will make the birthday cake for next month; although we know of no birthday celebrants. Jeff Otto will celebrate, but they are already in Florida—where he has begun his chemo treatments. Our best wishes to him on this journey.

Coffee makers for the next month (Tuesday mornings) are 11th Kathryn; 18th—Marsha; 25th—Judith; October 2—Donna Faye.

Judith moved to adjourn, Helen seconded.
