The Novelty Senior Citizens' always meet on the first Thursday of the month for their luncheon meeting.....and in June it was the first day of the month as well. Present were Rhonda Penfield--the KCHD nurse who comes to check blood pressures, etc.; Judith, Dorothy, Diana, Kathryn, Jim and Marsha. Pledge was recited by all with prayer by Jim We celebrated Judith's birthday this month with a cherry-chocolate dump cake made by Marsha. All enjoyed the food (particularly food made by someone else!) and the visiting.
At 1:20 Diana called the business meeting to order after the cleanup. Marsha read the minutes to last month's meeting--Judith seconded her motion to approve as corrected, which they were by unanimous vote. Judith then gave the treasurer's report. Although it being June 1, she hadn't yet received the bills, they were estimated. Dorothy seconded her motion to approve, again this report was approved as presented.
Business:
1. Diana has one boot out for donations for the wreaths at Casey's in Edina. Other ideas were given as to where to place the other boots this year.
2. Marsha and Jim had attended the community Memorial Day service Monday at the Knox County Community Center. She had talked with Rep Greg Sharpe and invited him to our December ceremony. She will send him a reminder. He also made a substantial donation for wreaths; of which we are most grateful.
3. Letters to businesses will be mailed in August: they are ready to be copied, and mailed.
4. Judith made a motion that we have a booth again at the CornFest in Edina Sept 9th. Dorothy seconded; motion passed. Whenever Judith gets the notification, she can go ahead and send it in.
There are no birthdays in July to celebrate, so no was was assigned to make a birthday cake. Coffee makers for the month are: June 6--Diana; 13--Kathryn; 20--Judith, 27--Marsha; July 4--NO COFFEE. July 6th is the next monthly luncheon.
Have a good month, everyone!
